Great beer and incredible food with a Southern craft focus.

Western North Carolina is known for its love of food and passion for great craft beer. At our Mills River Taproom and Restaurant you’ll find an abundance of both. Visit the Taproom to sample one of our 23 beers on tap, many produced just a few feet from the restaurant. Beers are accompanied by artful, chef-driven food focused on small plate, sharable, whole animal and farm-to-table dishes sourced mainly from local suppliers. While you’re here, grab a beer and head outside to our Back Porch and Beer Garden to take in the views of the beautiful forest or stroll through our Mills River Estate Garden. We use the homegrown vegetables and herbs for our restaurant and small-scale pilot brewery.

Helles

The Helles—or light colored—lager is one of Germany’s greatest gifts to the brewing world. This complex, yet, approachable style offers a near perfect balance between deep malt flavors and a crisp hop finish. Our version of this venerable style is in-line with the German-brewed classics and perfect for nearly any occasion.

Sidecar Orange Pale Ale

This beer has a pop of bright orange flavor that emphasizes the natural citrus-heavy character of Cascade, Equinox and Mandarina hops. Brewed with orange peel added directly to the kettle, and all the classic hop flavor you'd come to expect from our all-new take on the hop-forward fruit beer.

NC Saison

This homegrown saison is brewed with North Carolina malt from Asheville’s own, Riverbend Malt House and Epiphany Craft Malt from Durham. It has a light body but a great depth of grainy, cracker-like malt flavor with a bright lemony character from the use of Sterling, Celeia and Saaz hops.

Otra Vez

Otra Vez is a tangy twist on the nearly extinct gose style. It combines the zip of prickly pear cactus with a hint of grapefruit for a bright and refreshing finish.

Oktoberfest

We’re exploring the roots of Germany’s famous Oktoberfest beers. Each year, we partner with a different German brewer to explore a different approach to the style. This year we’re working with Bamberg, Germany’s Mahrs Bräu on a new version of the classic style. This authentic version of the festival beer is deep golden in color with a rich malt complexity, but with a noticeable spicy hop character from the use of the nearly forgotten Record hop varietal.

Porter

Brewed in the hop-forward American style and featuring a depth of malt flavor and complexity with roasted notes of black coffee and cocoa.
