Great beer and incredible food with a Southern craft focus.

Western North Carolina is known for its love of food and passion for great craft beer. At our Mills River Taproom and Restaurant you’ll find an abundance of both. Visit the Taproom to sample one of our 23 beers on tap, many produced just a few feet from the restaurant. Beers are accompanied by artful, chef-driven food focused on small plate, sharable, whole animal and farm-to-table dishes sourced mainly from local suppliers. We are a first come, first serve restaurant. Please feel free to stop by the host stand to put your name on the list, or grab a beer and head outside to our Back Porch and Beer Garden to take in the views of the beautiful forest or stroll through our Mills River Estate Garden. We use the homegrown vegetables and herbs for our restaurant and small-scale pilot brewery.

Helles in the Tropics

Brewing a great Helles is no easy task. But when it’s right, oh, is it right. That’s what you’ve got here: what might be a perfect Helles. Crisp and light, a symphony of new school juicy hop flavors and a soft and easy mouthfeel—an all-around absolutely crushable beer.

Pub Pale Ale

Its unique piney and grapefruit aromas from the use of whole-cone American hops have fascinated beer drinkers for decades and made this beer a classic.

Hazy Little Thing

We’re constantly brewing new IPAs, looking for bold hop flavor. With this beer, our brewers thought it was so good that we decided to serve it straight from the tanks—unfiltered, unprocessed, and raw—to let all the fruit-forward hop flavors shine. The result is a hazy beer with modest bitterness and intense hop character.

Riverator Doppelbock

Inspired by two rivers – Mills River, the home of our brewery in North Carolina, and our friends at Riverbend Malt House—this malt-forward doppelbock goes with the flow. Brewed with seven different malts including Steffi Pilsner, Munich, Vienna, and Riverbend Heritage this rich lager has layers of complex malt flavor and a clean finish, perfect for a cool autumn day.

Hop Bullet Double IPA

Hop Bullet Double IPA features a new technique: we’re hitting the beer with a double-barreled blast of Magnum hops and lupulin dust—the source of hop flavor and aroma—right into the fermenter for a ballistic burst of aggressive hop character.

Sierraveza

Inspired by the classic cervezas served ice-cold by the beach, we created our own take on the easy-drinking lager. Light and crisp, this beer has a balanced malt flavor with a hint of floral hops for an incredibly drinkable beer that will have you calling for another round.
