These beer-simmered brats use Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to lock in juicy flavor, then you brown ’em just right over open flame. Whether backyard grilling or campsite cooking, plan this for game day or getting away.
Pale Ale Brats
Ingredients
- 6 bratwurst, uncooked
- 2 cans of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 6 hot dog buns
- Sauerkraut, mustard to top. (Tried our Sierra Nevada mustards?)
Step 1
Prepare a grill for direct medium-high heat. Place a large cast iron skillet or pot directly over the heat. Add 2 cans of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, onions, and bratwurst to the skillet. Bring to a boil and simmer until brats are cooked through, 10–12 minutes.
Step 2
Slide pan or pot over to the side of the grill. Grill brats over direct heat, turning frequently, until nicely browned, 5–7 minutes.
Step 3
Return brats to the beer and onions, and simmer over direct heat until ready to serve. Serve bratwurst inside buns topped with onions and your favorite toppings.
