Poor Man’s Whiskey
Big Room | Chico
Poor Man’s Whiskey is an Americana band originating in the San Francisco area in 2001. The music is rooted around the songwriting talents of Josh Brough and Jason Beard (who met in 1993 at the University of California, Santa Barbara).
DETAILS
Poor Man's Whiskey
Poor Man’s Whiskey’s live show and sound is a blend of high octane old time/bluegrass music (often done on traditional acoustic instruments of banjo, guitar, fiddle, and mandolin) and a more psychedelic blues/jam rock style that calls upon their earlier influences such as Pink Floyd, Allman Brothers Band, and the Grateful Dead. Poor Man’s Whiskey seamlessly transitions between acoustic and electric styles with a carefully crafted commitment that revolves around well written songs and stories…while maintaining an exciting element of improvisation and the openness to let a song expand.

The Big Room is ADA accessible with a large selection of ADA seating. If you require ADA access to a concert in the Big Room, please use the ADA access lane and come to the front of the line for first-entry access.
When it comes to dogs or other animals indoors—and this includes our Taproom patio—we’re limited to ADA service animals due to the nature, size, and shape of our facilities. ADA service animals must either be trained or in training to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. We can’t allow other dogs, pets or animals indoors, including those whose function is to provide comfort, emotional support, companionship, or therapy.
ADA service animals must be under control of the handler at all times while visiting the brewery, and please note additional Brewery Tour policies for ADA service animals.
We only allow takeout from our Taproom.
We allow signage inside the Big Room and/or Mezzanine areas only, and we’ll share décor policies we kindly ask that you follow. We don’t allow signage or branding outside the Big Room, specifically in our parking area.
We allow a donation of wine only—no other alcohol types—to be made to private events; however, there is a limit of 12 donated bottles and a $20 corkage fee per bottle.
We don’t allow outside ticket sales to Big Room events without our permission, and the only circumstance we consider is if all proceeds from ticket sales fund, or are donated to, a nonprofit organization.
Our Big Room has a professional audio and lighting system. If you would like to use this equipment during a private event, we require that our in-house engineer manage the AV, which is an additional cost. Please include your AV needs in our event inquiry form.
Yes, there is limited parking available. Please discuss your parking needs in your event inquiry form. If you are hosting a daytime event that calls for more than 150 parking spaces, we require that you rent, at your own expense, parking at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds (located adjacent to our property) and shuttle your guests.
